Carlyssa Prather, a 17 year old resident of Prathertown, Maryland (inside of Gaithersburg) represented the saWUSA Women's lacrosse team in the Lisboa Cup Portugal as the only Defender. Team saWUSA went undefeated in 6 games. Next month she will represent a Women's USA Team by playing in the UK LaxFest. This achievement comes 140 years after the founding a Prathertown, Maryland, a community founded by freed slaves in 1883. Several generations of Prather's continue to live and build Community through our nonprofit organization as we offer financial literacy, education, health and wellness, economic development and care for well lived members. This is a place where the next generation of leaders can obtain Student Service Learning (SSL) while getting much needed tutoring and mentoring.
In the spirit of giving back, Carlyssa is collecting gently used lacrosse gear and/or donations to help support a lacrosse clinic especially designed for underrepreseted girls in which she is starting.
