Prathertown community Development Corporation successfully hosts inaugural year of partnership with the Maryland Department of Service and Civic Innovation
Therese Secka Mendy with Secretary of Service Paul Monteiro
For almost a year Maryland Corps member, Therese Secka Mendy, led multiple projects in the underserved neighborhood of historic Prathertown. Promoting safety for vulnerable community members she organized a team of students who created and distributed emergency preparedness plans and kits from generous donations of sponsors.
She recruited and trained volunteers to help clean up the historic Prather Family Cemetery.
By practicing project management skills and learning new office automation Therese helped initiate a digital cataloging of vinyl records
In the spirit of service she recruited volunteers to help shovel snow for disabled residents
These experiences have been life changing and a catalyst for stronger communities and building resilient workforces
Prathertown Community Development Corporation will continue hosting Cohort 2 beginning September 11th
